Baby Development - 6 months

Your Baby’s 6th Month:

Mouthing Objects
Your baby will be busy this month placing anything, and everything in his mouth. This is an important way for him to learn about textures. As well, he might just be cutting his first tooth. Offer him cool teething rings or teething biscuits, and put away any toys or other objects that could pose a choking hazard.

Moving Forward
Lunging forward or possibly even crawling may begin in your baby’s six month. Provide a clean, safe place for him to move around and be amazed as he begins to move forward. Other developmental milestones this month include rolling over in both directions and being able to sit up unassisted.

Improved Sleeping
Many babies at six months are able to sleep through the entire night. This is a welcome relief for most parents. With the average amount of sleep for a six month old being 16 hours, naps are still important.
