Baby Development Stages
All babies will develop at different rates, and while it is sometimes difficult
for parents to curb their expectations that their baby should reach certain
milestones by certain dates, it is nonetheless valuable for parents to know
what the different development milestones are, and to keep an eye on their
infant to make sure that his/her growth and development is progressing normally.
Use the development milestones on the following pages as a loose guide
only, and don't be alarmed if your baby takes longer than is indicated to
reach some of the development stages. Remember that babies will pass through
each stage when they, and they alone, are ready. Don't be tempted to compare
your baby's development with any other infant and, as always, if you have
any concerns about your baby's development progress, or lack thereof, consult
with your health professional.
